The day

A spring day with Dayrun

  1. A gardener reading his phone in his ute on a wet morning
    6:40 am

Rain overnight and the lawns are soaked

Dex moves this morning's mowing jobs to the next open windows and backfills the gaps later in the week. The round is sorted before the ute leaves the driveway.

  2. A landscaper planting a shrub while a phone lights up beside her
    9:30 am

A quote request while your gloves are on

Ray answers in your business's name and asks what the garden needs and where it is. Dex books the site visit into a window near tomorrow's round.

  3. A landscaper on a lunch break reading his phone on the tailgate
    1:15 pm

Last week's makeover quotes are still open

Leo follows up every garden makeover quote that is waiting on an answer. He keeps at it until each one closes.

  4. A gardener loading his mower onto a trailer in the late afternoon
    4:50 pm

The trailer is packed, the work carries on

Ray takes the evening calls and qualifies each one. Nora picks up a customer's complaint about a patchy new lawn and lines up the warranty work.

The maths

What missed calls cost a lawn and garden business.

A typical US lawn care business, worked out in the open. Cited figures link to their source, and every assumption says so.

960Calls a year(assumption)
27%Calls that go unanswered1
38%Of those, real job leads2
45%Leads that book once answered2
$123Average US lawn care visit3
8Visits from each new client in their first year(assumption)
Lost every year$43,600
Won back when Dayrun answers every call$21,800Assumes half of those jobs are won back once every call is answered (assumption)

An estimate, not a promise. The call shares are Invoca's own customer data, which leans towards larger businesses running paid ads, and the lead share is for calls from digital marketing. Job values are HomeAdvisor's average homeowner-reported prices for single jobs, so bigger installs would push the figure up. The yearly call count and the 50% are assumptions. No lawn care specific unanswered rate is published, so the all home services figure is used, and the visits per client is an assumption.
